Donate Clothes 4 Sammy: Raising funds for your school and supporting a vital cause

Donate Clothes 4 Sammy is an initiative launched by Leukaemia & Myeloma Research UK, a charity dedicated to finding cures for three major types of blood cancer. Sammy, the fennec fox, is the face of this mission, aiming to protect the environment, raise funds for local schools, and support vital cancer research.

This project is also focused on promoting recycling, particularly textile recycling.  Currently, only a small percentage of clothing is recycled, with millions of tonnes ending up in landfills each year. By participating, schools can play a vital role in addressing this issue while raising funds and educating pupils on the importance of recycling and sustainability. To further support this educational initiative, the charity has generous sponsors and supporters who back our work. This academic year, we plan to visit actively participating schools with a recycling theatre show, teaching pupils more about the importance of textile recycling and how they can help protect the environment.

How it works:

There are two easy options for schools to raise money while promoting sustainability:

1. Bag collection: Donate Clothes 4 Sammy pays 65p per kilo of collected preloved clothing.


2. Plastic-free and eco-friendly option: Install their Clothing Textile Bank on your school’s premises. Donate Clothes 4 Sammy still pays 65p per kilo or fixed monthly price.

Completely Free to Join: No hidden fees, contracts, or obligations—you can opt out any time.

How the Bag Collection Process works:

• Bag provision: Donate Clothes 4 Sammy provides collection bags, a fence banner, and stickers for children.


• Distribution: Distribute the bags to parents, and children get a Sammy sticker for donating.


• Collection: Their friendly, DBS-checked drivers will collect the filled bags and issue a receipt with the total weight for your reference.


• Payment: Your school earns 65p per kilo, with funds transferred within 3 days.


• Certificates: Your school receives certificates acknowledging funds raised and your contribution to Leukaemia & Myeloma Research UK (35p per kilo).
